When To Use Summer Tyres

Don't be misled by the word summer, these tyres aren't just designed for sunny days driving along the beach. Instead summer tyres have been designed to perform during the periods of higher average temperature we experience with the seasonal changes.

Ideally you should aim to have summer tyres on your vehicle between the months of April and September, when temperatures are likely to average higher the 7 degrees. This is when summer tyres will be at their most optimal.

Summer tyres are designed with less grooves - the tread is instead a block shape. The tread design allows for more direct contact with the road surface allowing for better traction and reducing the braking distances.

The compound used to manufacture summer tyres has been designed to be relatively hard. The compound results in less rolling resistance which provides better fuel efficiency.
